New Swift Go 14 battery is worse than any I have ever had Drains when switched off, have even disabled the ability to charge USB, get only a couple hours use when browsing, Have tried to check with Acer via email and live chat but can't get past the page requesting SN number once I have typed it in.

    @BeeDeeFraser

    What is the full model number of Swift Go14 SFG14-XX-XX

    Here are few tips to reduce it:
    Even when you're not actively using Wi-Fi, your laptop might be constantly syncing data, checking for updates, or running apps in the background that require a network connection, which drains power. Wi-Fi can contribute to faster battery drain, especially when browsing,

    A brighter screen consumes more power.
    Even when seemingly off, Windows can keep background processes running, consuming power. Limit background apps in Settings > Privacy & security > Background apps.

    Disable unnecessary startup programs using Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
    Disable Fast Startup and Hibernate in Windows Power Options.

    Ensure your power plan is optimized for battery life. Adjust screen brightness, disable unnecessary background processes, and switch to Battery Saver Mode (Settings > System > Power & battery).

    Even with USB charging disabled, some devices may still draw power. Ensure you're using the original 100-Watt USB-C charger and a thick USB-C cord.

    You can find the regional contact information for Acer support here Acer Support

    I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

    Thanks for taking trouble to reply. Still feeling a bit unconvinced and thought a new device would have a battery rating of "excellent" rather than "good", but maybe am expecting too much and "good" is the maximum - tho at this cost…

    Hi, A 4 to 5 hours battery lifespan is normal for a new battery, when you use Best Power Efficiency and enable the Battery Saver in Windows "Power & Battery" settings you may even get 6 hours. If are using Acer Care Center with Battery Calibration, Battery Optimization and Charge limiting to 80% options, stop all that and uninstall Acer Care Center in Windows "Add or remove programs". You can check this forum on the bad effects these programs have for the battery and your system. Disable Hibernate and Fast Startup in Windows "Power Plan" and completely shut down the laptop during the night. I recommend leaving the USB-C charger connected 24/7 and the battery fully charged to 100% at all times. If you don't plan to use the laptop, disconnect everything from the laptop and electrical wall outlet for Safety, like any other electrical home appliance.
