I bought acer predator helios neo 16[2024] on Jan. I had turned on smart charging as it always limit the battery to 80% . I will always use the laptop plugged in, for normal browsing also . From the past few days it is not limiting the battery at 80%, it is showing 100% .First time I have drained it to 80% and then plugged in again but after few days it is showing the same 100% battery even if the smart charging is turned on in predator sense. Is that a hardware issue ??

Hi, don't try to limit battery charging to 80%, this is a misconception floating on this forum, Acer no longer has this option in the later firmware/programs. Just keep the power adapter (don't use a USB-C charger) that came with the laptop plugged in 24/7 and make sure the battery is always fully charged to 100%. Attempting to prolong battery lifespan is a myth, a good quality LI-Ion will last 1,000 full charge cycles, approximately 4 years at which point you need to replace it as the battery wear becomes >60% and the drainage will be non-linear (unreliable). Also don't "Calibrate" (a misnomer) or "Optimize" Li-Ion batteries that have a Smart chip, a new battery or after reinstalling Windows OS requires one Full Charge Cycle for BIOS and MS ACPI battery protocol to register the full capacity, this is described on this forum how to do that.
