Hi, a wee question about the Aspire XC-710 (U3E1) motherboard in the pc i bought. I put a ssd drive into it and now i am thinking of sticking a new cheap cpu into it to. It has a Intel Core i3 6100 in it and i looked at the Core i5-6400, but the comparison site said it ain't any better. Is there any other ones that will fit and give it some 'Oomf' Thanks!

The XC-710 and TC-885 are very different machines… In general the upgrade path for older machines is to first replace the HDD with a SSD, then upgrade memory to the maximum or close, then upgrade a GPU card if applicable and only once those are done look into a CPU upgrade. CPU upgrades, in almost all cases, just aren't worth doing since there is so little change in the overall performance. There are some specialized instances where a CPU makes sense, but they are rare.
