Still no 24H2 update for my ConceptD 5 CN515-71P

It's nearing the end of February, 2025. I just wonder what it is about this machine that is preventing the update?

Hi, I advise to wait patiently rather than installing (forcing) the upgrade with a 24H2 ISO image, I once manually installed a Windows10 upgrade and experienced frequent crashes (10-20%), wait till the upgrade is offered by WU. Your W10 device is from 2020 and there have been no BIOS updates released by Acer since then so there may be a compatibility issue.

You can manually upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 using different methods here @ How to upgrade to Windows 11 Version 24H2. After upgrading to this version make sure that you update windows update to its last OS build: 26100.3194, it’s a very simple thing to do. good luck and hope this helps you out.

I've decided to give it a month or so before I try to manually download 24H2 update.

Even if it has problems, it's really no problem because I use Macrium Reflect to automatically do incremental daily drive images to two 12TB USB drives. It takes less than 20 minutes to re-image my system SSD back to it's original 23H2 system.

Nothing like the peace of mind that no matter how badly I screw up the system, I can revert to the image date and time of my choice almost instantly. I don't know why everyone doesn't do this.

Yes, the Macrium Reflect Windows boot menu that enables direct access to the Macrium Windows PE recovery environment without the need to burn a DVD or USB Flash drive is a very easy way to recover a crashed OS, I've been using this same backup for years and since Macrium released, as its a very efficient way of restoring your OS.

Yes. Quick and efficient, and I only need to pick which incremental file to restore to. I can take it all the way back to Windows 10 if I want to. Been using Reflect since 2015.

Ha, yes, I think I've been pretty patient, more than usual, lol. In about a week I'm going to install 24H2 though, to see what happens, if anything. I'm just waiting for when I have two or three hours to spare, in case I have to revert to 23H2 after testing the installation for issues.

I just came back here to say that I manually installed 24H2 on my ConceptD 5 Pro CN515-71P with no issues. I did an in-place upgrade with Windows upgrade assistant. It has been running great for months now after the upgrade.

You should have updated the version 24H2 when it came out, as there was a standalone .exe file to install this version when it was released in June 2024, as you could have done just an update to the version 24H2 or a clean install. Make sure that you have all updates done to the last OS build: 26100.4946 afterwards install the NVidia App so that you can get the last Nvidia gpu driver for your ConceptD 5 Pro laptop and all the best game settings (if you play games) from this app. Good luck.

    Hi cDixnm,

Please be aware that the ConceptD 5 Pro CN515-71P is not on Acer’s approved list for Windows 11 24H2 compatibility. The latest BIOS available is version 1.32 from November 2020, and Acer has not released any updates or Windows 11-specific drivers for this model.

Manually forcing 24H2 onto a system with a legacy BIOS and no OEM driver support introduces serious risks:

    • Security vulnerabilities due to outdated firmware
    • Driver mismatches, especially for GPU, audio, and power management
    • Windows Update failures and potential rollback loops
    • Reduced system stability, particularly with sleep states and hybrid graphics

While backup tools like Macrium Reflect offer a safety net, they do not mitigate the underlying compatibility issues. This upgrade path is not recommended and contradicts Acer’s rollout strategy, which relies on BIOS and driver validation before pushing major OS updates.

Users should wait for official support via Windows Update. Promoting manual upgrades on unsupported hardware may lead others into avoidable problems.
