Display configuration messes up while thunderbolt dock is connected in Nitro v15

I have Nitro v15 which has "Thunderbolt 4" and "HDMI". And I have 2 external monitors.

I have a dock connected to Thunderbolt. And I have two monitors connected to the dock. Everything works perfect. It's my office setup, actually.

And one of the monitors above supports 144 Hz and it is connected to the HDMI port over the other input port. This is for gaming. When I play a game, I just disable all displays except this.

There is a problem here in my gaming setup. When I open a game, within 1-2 minutes, I hear blink sound, and the laptop screen gets enabled in duplicate mode. If I unplug the dock (Thunderbolt connection), it's fine, I can play a game without any problem. But if my dock is connected, somehow, the laptop screen gets enabled.

Do you know what the reason is?

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this problem:

    Update Drivers and Firmware:

Graphics Drivers: Ensure your NVIDIA graphics drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website.

Thunderbolt Firmware: Check for any firmware updates for your Thunderbolt dock and your Nitro V15. You can find these updates on the Acer support website

Display Settings: Go to Settings > System > Display and make sure your display settings are configured correctly. Set your primary gaming monitor to the desired resolution and refresh rate, and disable the laptop screen manually before starting your game.

Power Management Settings: Adjust your power settings to High Performance to ensure your GPU and other components are running at optimal performance. You can do this in Control Panel > Power Options.

Disable Fast Startup: Fast Startup can sometimes cause issues with external displays. Disable it by going to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable and unchecking Turn on fast startup.

Check for Dock Firmware Updates: Some docks have their own firmware updates. Check the manufacturer's website for any available updates for your dock.

Test with Different Cables and Ports: Try using different Thunderbolt cables or ports to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, a faulty cable or port can cause display issues.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it might be helpful to contact Acer support for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting based on your hardware and software configuration.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

You sure that USB-C cable support external display output/input? Make sure device is connected to your PC directly and not using an external hub or dock. And did you Make sure the monitor is configured to the correct input? Mean to need to change monitor setting to show usb-c input if you previously used HDMI.

When your laptop screen gets enabled in duplicate mode when you're gaming, despite having your external monitors connected to a Thunderbolt dock. This could be due to a conflict between the Thunderbolt dock and the HDMI connection. To troubleshoot, you should update all your graphics, Thunderbolt, and dock drivers to the latest versions, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause conflicts. Additionally, check your display settings to ensure that your external monitor is set as the primary display for gaming, and try disabling the laptop screen entirely when the dock is connected. If possible, you might want to connect the 144 Hz monitor directly to the laptop's HDMI port instead of through the dock to see if this helps isolate the issue. Also, review your power management settings to ensure they are optimized for high performance. If you have access to another Thunderbolt dock, testing with a different dock might help determine if the problem lies with the dock itself.
