I bought a Acer Swift Go 14: SFG14-73, but fan is making noise while doing 'nothing'

NX.KSGEH.005 | 32GB I7 only using a browser, with 1 tab open and outlook in the background. CPU usage is minimal, but CPU temperature is extremely high. WHen for a short period outlook is fetching data (of is trying to) The fan speeds up and the temperature rises to 85 degrees celcius.

When I look in Acer Sense at the CPU temperature, it is rising enourmously while only browsing CPI 12%, 50degrees. If I do a speedtest temperature rises to 70 degrees. Even when doinin nothing afterwards, the CPU stays 52 degrees, with 8% CPU use. I wonder why de CPU is staying so hot, without any activities. I updated the DIOS to 1.11, that seemed to do a little better, but not enough. My Acer Spin i7 with 16 GB RAM does not have this problem.

It is so annoying, that I am thinking to return this PC. I have 5 acer Laptops in my posession, and this is the worst one, with the best specs…..

Any tips?

Erwin

Up updated the BIOS to 1.14, not 1.11, and I notice lot of typo's, sorry for that.

No problem, we are used to typos. 😉 Your system uses the new Meteor Lake chipset, which does run hotter than the older designs. Are you running yours in normal, performance or silent mode? The fans will be much louder in performance mode than in silent mode, even when not gaming. The fans are designed to run faster than earlier models to help dissipate the extra heat these need. For low impact use try switching to silent mode. That won't bump the fan speed up as much when the GPU is active.
