Hi, I recommend changing the battery too, google your full laptop model with the prefix "Original Acer battery for…..,", avoid cheap $20-30 batteries they won't last one year.

I have just changed the battery got a 80$ replacement from Amazon and 2 8g ram drives. unfortunately that did not resolve the problem.

Press and hold power button to extinguish all lights. Unplug the charger. Rapidly but gently insert & withdraw a paper clip from the battery reset pinhole a dozen or so times to try to clean the contacts on the spring-loaded normally-on reset switch. Plug the charger back in. Hope for the best. Then press the power button.

the lights won’t extinguish I have tried this sequence fallowing the other forums, I have electrical taped the push arm on the back plate and tinkered with reset switches, changed the CMOS and Li ion battery. Still nothing can I disconnect the battery to extinguish lights or is that at risk of frying something
