My computer Acer Aspire XC 1760 keeps freezing. It does so at least once per day since computer acquired in April 2023
The mouse cursor locks on screen which is my indication that the computer is now frozen but
I dont think the problem is with the mouse or the keyboard. Any ideas anyone please.
This problem could be from either software or hardware reasons, what I suggest is that you first make sure that your Aspire XC-1760 desktop is using the latest 24H2 version Win-11 and its updated to its last OS build 26100.2894 and afterwards you need the bios to be updated to the last bios version R01-B1 dated: 2023/04/25, this is very important in these desktop including and if you have an NVidia gpu card make sure that the NVidia driver is also up to date.
Try these updates first and then on the Hardware side it could also be from a faulty ram or your boot M.2 SSD drive which is a PCIe 3 x4 lane NVMe v1.4 type drive which could also be locking up as its firmware is not up to date, or the actual NVidia gpu so check all these things out and let us know if these things don't fix your desktop freezing up. Good luck.
Do a CMOS reset also and see if that fixes this issue

Typically a frozen mouse is an indicator that the bus is in a 'wait state' where an app or driver has requested exclusive access while it grabs some important bit of information, then either doesn't release when it gets it or never gets it and doesn't have any sort of timeout to release. Nothing can happen when it's locked like that, so the mouse freezes. Most often it's due to buggy code, so you have to figure out what app is the cause, then either get it updated or remove it. Sometimes there are hardware reasons for a freeze like that, but it's a lot less common. Once per day is going to make it hard to pin down, unless it's only when you are doing a specific thing. You could boot in safe mode and run it for a day or so to see if it still can happen. If not then we can look at what isn't running in safe mode. If it still happens in safe mode then it's likely either a corrupt Windows installation or hardware.
