hello,
i recently purchased a refurbished acer aspire 3 (A315-510P).
the bios is Insyde H20, v1.09

since I got it I m trying to install Wilma (mint22) on it. The USB live session is working fine the installation is always successful, but just after i try to reboot to my new system, just after the splash, it falls in the busybox prompt saying "Gave up waiting for root filesystem device, etcetc"

originally the laptop had windows 11 on it, I tried a dual booting configuration at start and then as the days past, the forum solutions all tried and my frustration growing, i ditched the windows made the partitions as they should be, and still i got the same problem...

After having gone through many linux related posts and solutions that did nt work i wondering whether it s something to do with firmware/hardware…

Just for the record i have tried
-setting secure boot, fast boot off
-then putiting secure boot on trying to add uefi files as trusted for executing through the bios and putiing it off again.
-disable/enable tpm
- adding flags to grub, like nomodeset and the one about the delay...

the last pointer I had from another forum was that doing a check on my efs partition fails and gives the following

GParted 1.5.0configuration
--enable-libparted-dmraid
--enable-online-resizelib
parted 3.6

can anyone help with this?

Go to the BIOS, Main tab, press CTRL+S, and disable the VMD controller.

    thanks for the quick reply,

i did it and what came up was an entry for the

    Touchpad: [I2C]

    and an entry for

    Re-Size BAR Support [Disabled]

so nothing came up for VDM controller….
