Hello,

I need to access the BIOS to temporarily redefine the boot order to USB in order to install Linux on an old Acer Aspire 315-22 laptop.

I have already tried to reset the BIOS using the CMOS clear process by removing all batteries and shorting the pins. However, this was unsuccessful, and only the clock was reset

Hi @Coolaze I'm sorry, but security-related issues cannot be discussed in the community. Here's a note from Acer:

t's not a security issue; I'm already able to access Windows 10.
The hard drive crashed and was replaced with a new installation.
The computer is very old, and the processor is very slow.
I want to install Linux on it
Now it is locked by Acer with a process that does not permit clearing the CMOS settings.
I can see programmed obsolescence, and I am waiting for an answer.
    I don't want to pay.
I will never buy Acer again and i will never advice to buy this brand
