New Acer Nitro 17 with win11. Camera installed, visible in device manager. Privacy settings set to access camera. But camera does not work, despite many attempts. Error code 0xA00F429F<WindowShowFailed>(0x80070057). Any solutions?

    Hi @Damiano1971

If your camera isn't working on Nitro 17 with error code "0xA00F429F<WindowShowFailed>(0x80070057)," it usually indicates a problem with your camera driver or application permissions, meaning you need to check and potentially update your camera driver, ensure your apps have proper camera access in your privacy settings, and restart your system. How to troubleshoot:

    • Check Camera Permissions:
      • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
      • Make sure the toggle for "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.
      • Check if the specific app you're trying to use has camera access enabled.
    • Update Camera Driver:
      • Open Device Manager.
      • Expand Cameras.
      • Right-click on your camera device and select "Update driver".
      • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the prompts.
    • Reinstall Camera Driver:
      • In Device Manager, right-click on your camera device and select "Uninstall device".
      • Check the box to "Delete the driver software for this device".
      • Restart your computer, Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
    • Restart Windows Camera Frame Server:
      • Open Services.
      • Find "Windows Camera Frame Server".
      • Set Startup type to "Automatic" and restart the service.
    • Check for Windows Updates:
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
      • Install any available updates.
    • Antivirus Interference:
      • Temporarily disable your antivirus software to see if it's blocking camera access.

If none of these steps work:

    • Reinstall Camera App: You may need to reinstall the default Windows Camera app.

I would suggest you to carry the laptop to the nearest Acer authorized service center/ Acer Stores for getting the issue further diagnosed.
