Aspire E5-551 slow to boot failures, does the graphics card mismatch affect BIOS upgrade?

Hello, my aging but capable Aspire E5-551 has problems booting to the Acer splash screen. It sometimes takes several tries before it will eventually boot. Once it boots, the machine works fine.
I am not sure if it is the BIOS but would like to try that. When i try to go to download the 1.11, 1.12 or 1.15 bios from the Acer page I get a 404 screen.

I have found the bios updates on Softpedia but it shows the spec as having an R7 graphics card where mine has the R6.

Will the mismatch of the graphics card cause me problems with the bios upgrade? It has the 1.07bios at present. When I look at the 1.07 bios on Softpedia it also shows the E5-551 as having the R7 card.

Thank you very much,

Richard.

Try to fix the Startup files of Win-10 first by going into the Win-10 Advanced options > Srtaup Repair and try that first and see if it fixes the boot problem, as it should.

Also the Acer support site downloads is down and their pages have the error 404 for all files downloads and the last bios version 1.15 from Acer, try again later or go to HelpDrivers site as they have available 34 files for Acer Aspire E5-551 laptop but their last bios version is only up to version 1.12 dated 2015/06/23. Good luck and hope this helps you out and fixes that start-up problem.

thank you for your suggestions. I have downloaded the 1.11 bios from your link thanks.

I have tried the start up repair but the delay is before it gets to windows or accessing the hard drive. The blue light comes on and it starts to get warm but no life on the screen. After a few trys usually the screen will flicker grey then I get the Acer splash and it will boot after that.

I did run scannow some time ago and I think I might have done something wrong as when it finally boots, it always instructs me to select another operating system using the f9 key. It always boots into windows from there quite quickly.

i will try the bios update later.

thank you for your help .
