Every time I plug in the HDMI cable to my Acer Iconia W510 tablet, my screen locks up and there is no response to any place I touch my screen. Any suggestions?

What is on the other end of the cable ?

Is it possible that when you plug in the second device the Screen Resolution(right click on any blank area of the desktop) is set to transfer the desktop to the second monitor ?

When I do that, only a real mouse or trackpad works.

Thanks for replying and trying to help.

The other end of the HDMI cable is plugged into the HDMI slot on my TV.

Are you saying that connecting a mouse to my tablet might help?

OK we need a better description e.g. does your screen display on the TV (I imagine you will need to change the input on the TV to that HDMI socket) ?

If so connecting a mouse should generate a pointer. You may need one to control an inage on a TV.

Yes, I do get a clear picture of my tablet's screen on my TV screen.

I will try to connect a mouse to my tablet and see if that helps.

    Thanks again for your response.

Thank you so very much for your assistance.

I connected a mouse to the tablet and now all is working perfectly on both the tablet screen and the tv screen.
