I would wait awhile before wiping the old HDD?. Just in case.

It would be nice if you had a external hard drive to back up you HDD before you format.

I'll have to study your other post but normally you just click on document, music etc.

Maybe post a screenshot of disk management ?

To copy, just copy the files then paste them to the designation

above the disk management, only the SSD,for the moment I leave the HDD disconnected.

I don't have the music icon anymore
and if I click on document it doesn't work because the letter assigned to the path is not correct.
but I can find these 2 things in several clicks, I have to go to the system disk C --> users --> my name --> and there I find document, music etc...

the path for document is: H:\Documents D but i don't know how i can change that

I'm no expert but I think that you have to use an utility program to rearrange Disk Management.

I have to go to USER/name to find mind too.

You can right click on icon and put them on desktop that makes it easier. Copy and paste them or pin them to start or copy paste to the task bar.

Quick Access is also handy (WIN11) for folders in File Explorer.

Note that one of your partitions is for RE CUP…I suppose recovery files.

Personally, I wouldn't mess with the partitions and move forward. J

I also wouldn't format the old one yet.

Flash sticks are OK for back up too, I just prefer the external drive. They slowest is probably as fast as your old HD/

    I've made some progress.
for this "document" story, I succeeded.
I pinned it in the "quick access" and in the start menu.

    everything seems to be ok.

there is only this Users (\DESKTOP-L8U4TDU) (Z:) that I don't know what it is.
    nor its specific icon

    thank you

I don't know but I assume that it came from your old HD ?

Looks like a cd device or ???

I would run Windows Security (Virus and Threat Protection) on the new and old drives.

    ok,that doesn't matter
    it will stay that way.
my old drive is not connected so it can't be it.

    thanks everyone.

now that I've discovered SSDs, I'm going to upgrade a laptop that we no longer used because of its extreme slowness.
    and it's also an Acer.

Typically Z: is a ram drive temporarily created for installation purposes.

    I made a huge mistake

    I formatted the hdd.

the pc continued to work well.

then, to check I did a restart.

    and there... nothing more

    blue screen with error 0xc000000e.

I spent an afternoon trying everything, following tutorials, doing lots of things but nothing worked.

so next week I will take him to a specialist.

    OH NO.

    Are both drives empty ?

You can create on USB , a new bootable windows but you data is gone unless the specialist can retrieve.

Instructions as how to download and install.

Be sure that Boot Enabled is Enabled in your BIOS then do a F12 to select your USB as the boot drive.

try to access the Windows Recovery Environment, turn your computer on and off three times. While booting, make sure you turn off the computer when you see the loading logo. After the third time, Windows 10 will boot into diagnostics mode. Click Advanced options when the recovery screen appears.

Then in the "Choose an option" screen, click Troubleshoot => Advanced Options => Try the options Startup Repair or System Restore.

The USB "Create win USB" should work as it has the drivers.

You have to download it on another computer to a USB flash drive,

Also if you can get to the DOS screen, run CHKDSK

I tested what you described to me several times yesterday.

    the repair fails.

    chkdsk too.

I made the bootable USB key and tried it at least 10 times.

I also can't install windows because it tells me a driver is missing.

I downloaded 2 intel rst drivers (I think it's that word) but still no winner.

I read dozens of solutions, forums, Microsoft stuff, I saw lots of tutorials.

So during the coming week, I'm going to drop it off at a computer specialist who will be able to get it back on track for me

I'm at a loss as to what has happened unless the new SSD is bad ?

Have you reseated the drive (with power unplugged) ?

Are you able to BOOT the USB drive by boot enabling in bios and then doing a F12 to select the USB Drive.

Nothing makes sense as all the drivers should be on the USB ??

    How does CHKDSK fail ??

I don't think the SSD is bad because I was running on it after doing the cloning. However, I'm not saying I'm 100% sure. with the usb key I can boot from it, I made the necessary modifications in the bios. as proof I arrive in the back command repair area, uninstall latest update etc... as the repair failed I tried an installation and already, from what I saw on the internet it should offer me which disk I want to install it on, whereas in my case there is only a white rectangle without a choice of disk. if I click on next it says "a driver is missing" (see image, but it is not from my PC which is in French, since I am French).

For chkdsk i forgot what is writen but i can't do it
