Your laptop might be experiencing a static charge whereas it thinks it is already powered on. To release the static charge do as some of the others suggested about removing the power cord and battery then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds put the power cord back in (leave the battery out) then press the power button to see what happens. If nothing happens remember that the laptop can work off the power cord or the battery, but the battery receives a charge from the power cord. If the power cord is bad, the battery will eventually drain and you’ll have no power source to make the laptop power on. On most computers once you plug in the power cord there might be a light on the square block on the power cord to let you know it is working. Also there might be a light around the keyboard some place to let you know the laptop is receiving power from the power cord. Also some laptops emit a light where the tip of the power cord plugs into the laptop. If you don’t see a light someplace then most likely your power cord is bad. After all the aforementioned steps if you do see lights that lets you know your power cord is working but your laptop is still not powering on your laptop might be in the middle of processing updates. Updates can take up to 2 to 3 hours to process.
