Any idea what the patch of blue light is that has appeared near the start menu? It is more visible and stretches further up the screen (though thinner) when viewed from the right side of the monitor.

3 years old and out of the 2 year warranty!

After a pointless chat session with support (SFC/scannnow!) they said to contact a repair centre.

Thanks

Looks like it might be a bit of bleed from the backlight…

Thanks, it could be, but its a bit odd it's just started and only in a small area, and it's blue.

Could be a piece of tape coming loose…

Thanks, not sure about tape, but the repair company says it looks like a 'panel fault' (what a surprise) and will be £550 to repair/replace it!

I'll wait until it fails then buy a Dell, as I've never seen one of those fail in over 20 years.

I have the same problem. Mine is almost 3 years old (no warranty of course), and the blue patches appeared about half a year ago. At first - in the upper right corner, then gradually in left upper and right bottom corner. They are more visible on light (white) bacground than on darker ones.
In addition - I have the same vertical scanline and image retention problem that some people have with Predator monitors (like in this topic). It started whil monitor was still under warranty, but I could not be bothered to send it to service centre as I've read in these forums that mostly they just send it back after trying various resets. And I found that increasing black boost setting in monitor OSD somewhat reduced the problem. The flickering mostly appeared in certain games and certain color palettes (like dark grey background).
So yeah. Will not buy another Acer monitor. And Acer doesn't seem to care about these problems as I have seen from forum discussions.
