    Hi,

You can update BIOS either through Windows Update or manually after downloading from Acer support site.

The first method is through Windows Update, this is the safest method in my opinion.

1.Go to Settings, click Windows Update, click Advanced options in the right pane, check if there's any Optional updates in the next window, if you see a Firmware update available, go ahead and click the update, once it started, don't touch any keys on the keyboard or turn off the laptop, you better move away from the laptop, once everything finished system boot in to Windows.

The second method is manual, and you must take all the precautions to avoid bricking the system

    2. Manually download the BIOS update from here:

    https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/Nitro_AN515-58/downloads?suggest=AN515-58;0

Make sure that you have charged the battery to 100% and keep the mains connected to laptop during update process.

Select the time when you think there won't be any power cut in your area (this is beyond your control)

Make sure to select the update during other members in your house are not using their laptops/PC

Turn off any third-party AV programs, if you have installed them,

Close all opened programs or any Applications before start performing BIOS update.

Disconnect any USB disks, printers connected to the laptop.

Be patient and let the update perform without any interference from you, do not touch any keys or turn off the laptop because during the update process, the laptop becomes quiet and silent, so it's better you move away from the laptop.

Just some additional information for you, as I would only update any Acer bios from the official Acer support page, this is just my preference, so you can do whatever you like. The last Acer bios update for the Nitro 5 AN515-58 laptop is dated; 2024/11/26 and its titled: “IC (Industry Canada) edge SAR modifications to comply with regulations” and its bios version 2.16 and its file name is: HH514216.exe that is only executable through windows operating system as its an executable file, so follow the exact steps below.

To safely flash any windows bios executable file you need to follow these steps:

    1. Make sure that your laptop is plugged into a mains power outlet through its oem Acer adapter and there is no chance of a BSOD error on your laptop or a power failure or a brown out to interrupt the bios flash mid way, as that is a critical error and will brick your laptop.
    2. Turn off all anti-virus and malware software’s and all software’s that are operating on your laptop in the background.
    3. Start the Insyde bios flash program and DO NOT interrupt this flash process ever throughout its update stage, this could take up to 5 min so be patient.
    4. Wait for the bios flash to finish and for your laptops operating system to reboot into the login screen, as that is the only sign that the bios flash was successfully updated to its new version.
    5. If the laptop doesn’t terminate at the OS login screen then the bios flash was corrupted and your bios chip needs to be reprogrammed or changed as its damaged and you will not be able to boot the laptop.
    6. This is why Acer has a bios WARNING: "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer product. Please proceed with caution"

Good luck and hope this will assist you further.
