Hi,

I have an Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714. I've been trying to figure out how to use the battery saver mode while also having the keyboard backlight on, but I've had no luck. When on battery saver mode, even the manual methods of turning up the keyboard brightness don't seem to work. Ideally, I'd like to be able to use all of the features of the battery saver mode while still maintaining the backlit keyboard for when I'm working in the dark. Is there a way to do this on my model of laptop? I'd appreciate the help.

Regards,

Logan H

Unfortunately, it seems that enabling Battery Saver mode on the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 automatically turns off the keyboard backlight to save power. This is a limitation of the current software design. However, you can manually adjust the keyboard backlight brightness

    To control the backlight:

    • Brightness Adjustment : Hold the Alt key and press either the screen brightness up or down keys to adjust the keyboard's backlight intensity.
    • Turning off : Continuously pressing the brightness down key while holding Alt should eventually turn off the backlight entirely.

Thank you. I did see that Google Chrome, which I use, is supposed to have an energy saver setting. The battery saver mode says it turns it on. However, I don't have an option to toggle it independently in Chrome settings --- it just redirects me to my laptop's battery settings.

Do you happen to know anything about that issue/fix?

It's a feature Google sets, so maybe a feature request to Google will help it make it into a future OS release?
