Has anyone had a problem with the above laptop? The screen keeps flashing every few seconds as if it is switching between Power Save mode and Performance.

I have checked everything is plugged in correctly. The icon by the clock says it is on AC power.

Getting very annoying, can any one advise?

Do you hear a beep when this is happening? Check the power adapter plug if the pin fits snugly in the DC plug, you should hear a loud click when the pin is fully inserted, don't use a USB-C charger but the original 330-W power adapter that came with the laptop, if you are using a smaller 180-W adapter, check the maximum power consumption of the dGPU, you may need a more powerful adapter when running in Turbo mode.

We need to determine whether it is a hardware or software issue. Turn off the computer. Tap f2 ( for laptop ) while turning on the computer. It will go to bios. Please stay on the bios screen for 30 mins. If the display is looking good on bios then it is a software issue. If the display is not looking good on the bios screen then it is a hardware issue.

If it is a software issue try the following the steps.

    Try windows x
    go to device manager
    expand display adapter
right click on display driver - uninstall
    Restart the computer

    It should work fine.

If it is still not working
Uninstall the display adapter from device manager
    Don’t restart the computer.
    Go to support.acer.com
    Choose your country
type snid or chose your model
    go to drivers
    Install the display driver

    It should work fine.

Hello Axxo, thank you for your reply.

I think the problem lies with Oracle Virtual Box. The system seems to put the laptop in Game mode. Thats when the problems start happening and the screen flickers.

I then need to power the laptop down and re-energise to get it working again.

This laptop is becoming a waste of money. I purchased it so I can run it with linux dual boot which doesnt work without a major speed reduction (intel optane). Now I cant use linux in a Virtual machine with out the machine going into a frenzy.

I have noted that the screen also flashes when using Chrome (and Edge). You need to disable advanced graphics accelerator in the settings to stop the screen flashing.
