I have acer aspire 5 515-57g (i5-1240p, iris xe, rtx2050)

My laptop have both HDMI and thunderbolt 4 ports, when I connect external monitor to HDMI it connects to igpu (iris xe), and I can't use gsync and other Nvidia display settings. This meams HDMI port connected to igpu.

Is thunderbolt 4 port connected to dGPU (RTX 2050) or also to iGPU?

If I buy usb-c to HDMI cable and connect my monitor through it, will I be able to use gsync and other Nvidia display settings?

The Thunderbolt port is also connected to the iGPU.

The NVidia RTX2070 gpu is only used for high end graphics like in gaming and/or editing and the RTX2070 turns on automatically after the graphics is too complex for the Intel graphics, you can change the settings for software and games to use the RTX12070 gpu in the NVidia Control Panel, but the dedicated gpu only turns on when the graphics need a high end gpu to process the image and it won't work all the time. Good luck.

To force an app to use a discrete GPU instead of the integrated adapter, or vice versa, to provide better system performance or battery life, use these steps:

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Click on System.
    3. Click on Display.
    4. Under “Multiple displays,” click the Advanced graphics settings link.
    5. Select the kind of app you want to configured using the drop-down menu: (Classic app — these are your traditional Win32 desktop programs.) (Universal app — these are those app available through the Microsoft Store.)
    6. If you select Classic app, you’ll need to click the Browse button to locate the “.exe” file to add the app. Otherwise, if you select the Universal app option, you’ll see a second drop-down menu to select the app.
    7. Select the app you added from the list.
    8. Click the Options button.
    9. Set the graphics preference you want to use: (System default — this is always the default setting, and Windows 10 decide which GPU to use automatically. Power saving — runs the application on the GPU that uses the least power, which most of the time is your integrated graphics processor. High performance — runs the application on the most capable GPU, which is most of the time an external or discrete graphics processor.)
    10. Click the Save button.

Once you’ve configured the steps, the app you configured will use the graphics processor you specified optimizing battery life or performance the next time you launch it.

Thanks for ur answer, by the way, I heard that I can check this info in Nvidia control panel → Physx settings, but when I went there I saw only info about HDMI and other unknown port which used for connecting internal monitor, so I just wanna ask how did u know that thunderbolt is connected to iGPU?

Check if there is a display port symbol on the integrated graphics section.

It shows me this, laptop display connected to igpu like in ur print, but how can it help to determine is thunderbolt (usb-c) connected to iGPU or dGPU?

The display output on the Thunderbolt port is connected to the iGPU. Most of the Thunderbolt functions are controlled by the Intel CPU.
