I just got a new Aspire A3SP14-31PT and its download speed doesn't exceed 140 Mbps.  I have xFinity 300 Mbps service and other much older laptops and phones easily go above 260 Mbps.

Five hours of Bios, drivers, reboots, changing network card configuration does not have any effect on the issue with Intel WiFi 6 AX101 card inside of the laptop. Acer support so far doesn't go above traditional initial 199 steps.

My guts ( I was a professional IT person) tell me it is normal for this laptop to underperform to such a degree.

Please let me know if anyone has a better download speed for Aspire A3SP14-31PT.

Thanks.

Hi, >90% of poor Wi-Fi download speed and high internet latency is caused by outdated or location of routers, traffic and servers (ISP, download site), very little is due to actual hardware adapter issues. IMO 140 Mbps download speed is very good for 5G. You can't compare cellular performance of Androids with Windows Wi-Fi networking and older Windows versions don't have the same security protocol of W11. Reset Network in Windows, if you use a mobile router move it closer to your laptop or in a different location/room and check if your internet plan is perhaps capped, contact your ISP/phone company support line if there are Internet issues in your area.

I would expect two 4-year old Lenovo Windows 10 laptops and the new Acer Windows 11 to have a comparable 5G download speed in the same environment. I would agree in the most situations it is not hardware itself, as long there is no firmware to upgrade inside. I will try to ask my neigneighbors to allow me connect to treir wifi gateway and see if I get download speed bump.
