The slim ODD on my TC-875-UR13 has died. Three questions.

First - How do you remove the front bezel?

Second - How do you remove the ODD?

Third - Is there a service manual for the Aspire TC-875?

Thank you.

Not as complex as they have been saying… The Optical drive has to be removed before you can remove the front cover to the case, but once you have removed the optical drive there's no reason to tear the machine down any farther. :) You just remove the power and data cables from the back of the drive, then depress that latch and pull the drive out the front. There is a bracket on the back of the drive held on with two screws and the front bezel itself has just plastic clips holding it on. It snaps back on the new drive and you put the bracket on the new drive, then slide it back in until it clicks. Reconnect power and data and it should be recognized by the OS.

I think that you have to remove the side and covers, by a screw or 2 and sliding them back then the front cover will have some latches to hold, to move it off. The rest should be obvious.

See this partial service guide captions of how to take the front panel off as the whole disassembly procedure is far to long to include in a partial PDF caption.

I got as far as getting the side panel off. The three tabs on the front bezel were easy, but the bezel was stuck in place on the other side.

How far down does one need to press the tab to pull out the ODD? It seemed to be stuck.

You need to take the HDD cage out at the bottom out then the ODD out as then the whole thing will come off.

Did you open the ODD to the open position when you tried to take the front cover off ?

No I did not. I had disconnected all the external cable before popping the side panel.

Some are vertically mounted, others horizontal mounted so it's a difference.

Did you get it out without removing the front cover?
