Can I Upgrade My Acer Aspire TC-885 with an HPE 817113-001 SSD?

Hello Acer Community,

I’m currently using an Acer Aspire TC-885 desktop and would like to improve its storage performance. I have an HPE 817113-001 SSD (SATA, 480GB) from a previous setup, and I’m wondering if it’s compatible with my Acer system.

Has anyone tried installing this HPE SSD in an Acer Aspire or similar desktop? Were there any compatibility issues, or did it work smoothly? Any tips on installation or setup would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Does it have the SATA connection?

It would help us to give you good advice if we knew a little more about your system. The one you link is a TC-885-EB15. Is that the exact model you have? If so you already have a SSD, albeit a small one, that is your C: drive and has all the boot partitions. In addition you have a 2TB HDD connected to one of the SATA port on the motherboard and an optical drive connected to a second port. Likely they are D: and E:. When you talk about storage performance, which drive letter is acting slow? You would expect D: and E: to be much, much slower than C:. But it might be that the issues you experience are really due to running low on memory, 8GB is fairly minimal these days, and when you get close to that usage the OS will start swapping to disk. If there isn't enough room on the small C: drive, the OS will use the HDD instead, and that is very, very slow.

As to your actual question, you should be able to put any HDD or SSD that can fit the case in. You have one free SATA port still on the motherboard. Number 7 on this diagram:

You should also have enough SATA power connectors off the power supply…
