Hi all,

My A1-810 has stopped charging at 47%! Was chugging along just fine then zip, nada, nothing? If I reconnect it to any of my PCs it is located as a media source but still no charging happening. Any ideas?

Also, following OS update last week all my files on the SD have become invisible to my PCs! They are there to the A1 but nothing else?? I can move them to the main RAM and recover them but I am wondering what has changed.

Cheers in advance for any insghts, John

For the charging issue, I would only be able to suggest contacting your local service center.

I'm not sure what specifically would have changed in the latest update to render the SD card "invisible".

Can you please list the Android version, kernel version, etc for the system?

    Hi there,

    Android: 4.2.2

    Kernel: 3.4.5

    Image: Acer_AV0532_A1-810_RV21RC02_WW_GEN1

    Build: Acer_AV052_A1-810_1.105.00_WW_GEN1

    Image P/N: FM.NLXA0.02T

Re: the charging issue. - I haved found the pad is actually charging but there is no indication that it is happening. No anination, no notice nothing. I confirmed the charge by monitoring the battery indcation reading going up over time. The lack of indication is when powered up and down.

Re: the SD card. - The card is visible but no folders or files previously visible can now be see over the USB link! They are there, they can be moved to main memory where I can get at them from my PC via onboard file managers.

It has been suggested that resetting the system may help in correcting what you are seeing after an update.

    Hmmm.

Will this result in me needing to reset all my account details, mail services and so on? What about downloaded apps? Volitile data from route planners and the like?

Thanks but ther article leaves one question outstanding... the 'photos  and videos'. am I right as 'personal' they get trashed too?

Out of interest, why would the machine not swallow a patch correclty? If the patch is good, it's download checksum is good, should it not install and behave (unless there are knwo issues with it before relaease which then raises UAT questions)

Consider any data that did not ship on the system as "personal" and it would be removed.

There are a number of variables when attempting to patch an operating system which can include software installed, amount of space, variables in Settings, etc.  It is almost impossible to test every scenario that might occur when sending an update to hundreds of thousands of devices around the world.

Generally, resetting the device after an update takes care of any issues.

    Okey dokey.

I retrived all my personal files via the system drive and from there onto my PC. Then realised that I had not removed and remounted the sd card. Guess what, once shutdown, remove, boot, shutdown, reinstall sd Smiley Happy all the files were accessible remotely.

However, the misreporting of charging still persisted so factory reset. No avail, the A1 still stubornly refuses to give me battery charging status! In fact it appears it is nolonger reporting the actual battery condition as after around 1hr of powerup and no external connection the battery indicator still tells me 100% charged! Argh.

I thought (silly me) that I left all this sort of thing behind on my Windows machines, evidently not Smiley Sad

    Still, thanks for the tips.
