You can buy an external laptop cooler. This will supplement your cooling needs. Or you can disassemble you laptop to see if the fan is jammed with dirt and dust.

    1. If you’re comfortable opening your laptop, take off the bottom cover and blow out any dust with canned air (DO NOT BLOW OUT THE DUST WITH YOUR MOUTH!!!). Close it up and boot it back up. Go to Windows and update ALL the drivers for the unit and reboot.
    2. If you have a laptop with built in diagnostics, run it and let it do the memory check to see if it overheats. If it does, there will be a record of the thermal episode to report to the manufacturer (see #4).
    3. Go to the BIOS and set it to Default. Next, see if there are settings for the CPU fan. Try several configurations to see whether it makes a difference. This process will take time so be patient.
    4. If the issue still persists, the possible answer could be the temperature sensor that is embedded in the motherboard is not functioning. In which case the only option is to have the motherboard replaced. If the laptop is still under warranty, call the manufacturer and ask for the Customer HelpDesk. Give them the units serial number. They can advise you on what to do next.
