My laptop is about 2 years old. I have a situation where my laptop stopped working without a charger. I'm telling you what happened. One autumn evening, I performed a full scan of Windows 10 pro for viruses with a standard Microsoft antivirus, connected the charger to the laptop for a quick scan and switched the power mode from “balance” to “performance”. The scanning process in this mode lasted about 40 minutes and did not end, the processor temperature reached 78-81 *C (amd ryzen 5 5500U processor), after which I got tired of waiting for the virus scan to complete and canceled the process. I turned off the laptop as usual: Start -> Shutdown. Then I disconnected the charger from the device.

The next morning, I decided to turn on the laptop to work, but it showed no signs of life at all (even the indicators were not on). I tried to connect the charger - it worked, but as soon as I disconnected the charger, it immediately shut down. When I turn it on, I see that the battery indicator shows the battery charging process (as it should be), but the charge is 90% and no matter how long the device is charged, the figure does not change (at the same time, the charging indicator on the side also works properly). I have tried everything on the Internet. And resetting the battery via the button, changing and reinstalling drivers, changing the power mode, resetting the BIOS to factory settings. I immediately began to think that the battery itself was out of order.

I immediately began to think that the battery itself was out of order. I decided to disassemble the laptop and conduct a visual inspection of the physical components. I took off the lid, the first thing I did was disconnect the battery from the motherboard and inspected it, it was visually fine, not swollen. I looked at the entire board from both sides and found something interesting. Only in one place, namely on the capacitor, I noticed traces of combustion (I attached a photo). I couldn't find anything related to this on the Internet, only that it was an SMD capacitor, and I don't know what its parameters are. I decided to leave the battery connector unconnected (however, I insulated it with electrical tape).

Is it possible that it is because of this single burnt capacitor that the laptop does not work from the battery, or can it not be, that is, it could have pulled some other components that are not visible visually and broken them?

In addition to the fact that it could have burned out due to a prolonged load while running an antivirus scan, is there a possibility that the cause was also an unstable voltage in the 220V network (at that time, repairs were being carried out)?

I also noticed that the charger began to make barely audible noises and squeaks, although I had not observed this before. Its characteristics: 45.1W, 19V - 2.37 A, brand - LITEON.
