Those symptoms are due to the main power rail and its charging phase problems and you need to take/send your laptop to a technician, so that they can analyze this problem, as for a 2 years old laptop, its battery should not be a problem as its a charging issue. Also and as last resort, you can do a hard reset by taking the main battery out and disconnect the bios battery and short its +&- pins to reset CMOs and leave it like that for 15min and then reconnect all parts, to see if that helps and the charging comes back and the laptop works without the adapter, but if it doesn't, then you need to have a technician pin point the fault to fix this issue.
