Laptop specs:

Gtx 4080

I9-13900HX

New RAM: 16GBx2 ddr5 5600mhz from silicone power

Old RAM: 8GBx2 ddr5 5200-5600mhz? from factory default

BIOS: 1.16

Windows 11, no pending updates

The problem is that my newly added RAM is stuck at 4800mhz and not 5600mhz. Factory default RAM was ok at either 5200 or 5600mhz iirc.

I want my RAM to be 32gb 5600mhz :')

Hi, is your laptop model Predator Helios 16 PH16-71 (72YG)? both CPU and RAM controller support DDR5-5600:

Either you have a different laptop model or there is an issue with that SODIMM kit you bought, return it and try this Crucial kit: Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR5-5600 SODIMM | CT2K16G56C46S5 | Crucial.com

Use the Acer oem 16GB DDR5-5600MT/s Hynix type ram below as the new ram upgrade, as the 32GB DDR-5600MT/s only works from that same ram CL exact type ram and that new 2x 16GB DR5-5600MT/s SpecTech Incorporated ram is not fully compatible for 5600MT/s ram speed and/or it has different CL rating and that is why you are getting a 4800MT/s speed instead or 5600MT/s speed.

The ram in Acer laptops can be very specific and has to be also compatible to the oem ram that Acer uses and has tested the laptop with and its bios programmed to. Good luck and hope this helps you out and solves the problem, as Acer will not change your laptop and will advise you the same as I have.

Note: Only use the highlighted and specific Hynix type 16GB DDR5-5600MT/s type ram listed below, as Acer only recommends and has tested the ram below to be used with your Predator PH16-71 laptop model, that is why you are getting the DDR5-4800MT/s speed withe incompatible SpecTech Incorporated ram.

Update: getting the crucial 32gb kit 5600mhz DDR5 worked and got it running at 5600mhz right off the bat. Thanks. Didn't know RAM compatibility by manufacturer was also a thing..

The crucial 32gb 5600mhz works fine for me so I think I'll stick with that. The previous ram that was stuck at 4800mhz was CL40 as well and the Crucial one that works is CL46. Thank you
