I have an Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop from 2022 (specifically, the model # is PH315-55-70ZV). I am not longer under warranty but would like to get a recovery USB stick for it.

I notice that in the UK, you can buy them on the Acer web site, but I am in the US. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

The Windows USB Recovery flash drive is made with your laptop, insert a +10GB flash drive in the USB port and in Windows Search type Recovery drive, takes 40 minutes to create.

There are Acer Recovery USB drives offered by Acer stores in some countries but that same Acer Recovery app is on Acer Care Center or AcerSense programs that you can download from Acer Support for your model.

For operating systems go to the Acer Recovery Media as its got the guide for either Win-10/11. For a bios recovery its allot more complicated as you need a specific .fd file for the Insyde bios type of your laptop which Acer laptops mostly have, read this link for the InsydeH2O BIOS Crisis Mode guide to recover a corrupted bios which works. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Sadly, I no longer have the drive. The OEM SSD died and I bought a replacement off Newegg, but now I can't get vanilla Windows 11 to install and I wouldn't mind paying for the original recovery disk.

What I suggest is that you construct a Win-11 bootable installation USB and do a Clean Install of the Microsoft Win-11 version 23H2 .ISO with Rufus 4.5 which its last OS build is: 22631.4249 and also on the same USB, put the PH315-55 unzipped IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver version: 19.1.0.1001 so that the Win-11 installation recognizes the M.2 SSD boot drive, then do all the windows updates and whatever firmware that it has for the PH315-55 and update to the last Acer bios updates for the PH315-55 laptop. Then update to the last NVidia gpu game ready driver, as that is the best way to install Win-11 as it works perfectly and its the same as the Acer oem Win-11 that only has additional bloatware and Acer software like Acer Care Center and Quick Access which you can add from the PH315-55 Acer support page. Good luck.

First off, I just wanted to say that this forum has been remarkably helpful (and fast!). Far more so than I was expecting.

@StevenGen - I also concluded that my issue is likely related to Intel RST and I've been trying to figure it out. You seem to have some experience with this, so I have a few questions if you don't mind helping further.

    1. Is there a particular reason to install Windows 11 23H2 instead of 24H2? (maybe 24H2 isn't available as an ISO yet?)

    2. I had to disable VDM in my bios to get the Windows installer to even see the new disk. I assume I should leave it off?

    3. I have a Windows 11 USB that I created with Microsoft's MCT (rather than rufus), I put the uncompressed RST drivers (used the command to decompress them) in a folder off the root of the USB drive. Is there a particular place I need to put the drivers so that Windows will find and install them? I attached a screenshot of the folder structure of the USB stick.

    4. Using that drive, I was able to install Windows 11, but now it just hangs at boot with a black screen. I got to a recovery cmd console but wasn't able to find any obvious next step to take.

Any help would be very appreciated!

    I did some additional troubleshooting.

    1. 24H2 is now the version you get by downloading Windows 11 from Microsoft. For now I'm going to stick with that as I don't think it's related.
    2. I can now get my disk to be recognized with our without VDM enabled in the BIOS. As long as I manually load the RST driver OR include it in the $WinPEDriver$ folder on the USB drive, it works.
    3. I just remade my USB drive with Rufus. Will see if that helps.

Ok, so I finally solved it, with a great deal of help from @StevenGen. It turns out, the trick was installing Windows 11 23H2 rather than the latest 24H2. Thank you!
