My pc is from 2013 and is updated with Windows 10. I will be upgrading next year but need to keep it updated until then. The last windows update (Sept 2024) crashed my computer so I contact MS help. They said I needed to update my bios. Is there an updated bios for my model of pc?

And you likely don't want the P11-B4L BIOS version, the P11-B4 is correct instead. The L is for Linux installs and isn't needed for a Windows system. The technician you talked to is just passing you off because the issue is likely more complex than they could fit into the short time they are allowed for the call. Which update caused the problem? Microsoft has had significant issues with one of their updates that rolled out in the last couple of weeks, and you really don't want to install it until they have it replaced with one that works.

What is your Windows10 version now? you may have to upgrade to 22H2 with this enablement update: KB5015684: Featured update to Windows 10, version 22H2 by using an enablement package - Microsoft Support, there is no later BIOS than P11-B4L from 2016.

@bbillsey I have downloaded the P11-B4 but will postponed updating my pc until Nov 2 when I am forced to. I am hoping MS will have made the necessary fixes by then. As you mentioned probably alot of people had issues with it. If it fails, I will try the P11-B4 update. I'm scared my computer will crash as I'm not computer literate so it's my last resort choice. Thanks for your help!
