SSD Memory Upgrade for Nitro 5 (AN515-58-56CH) with Intel Core i5 12th Gen 12500H

I have a Nitro 5 (AN515-58-56CH) looking to upgrade the current 512 GB and add an additional SSD to the M.2 slot. Ive been told by Acer chat that it can only go up to 1TB per slot and also on different ocassion was told to only 512GB, which seems weird to me. Does anyone have the same model and had upgraded the M.2 slots? If yes, how much TB have upgraded and how its the performance.

Thanks

HI @C_Santiago1485 according to the manufacturer Crucial, it can support up to 4TB but I imagine it depends on the motherboard you have. The following link refers to the same AN515-58 series but to the 75NM model but I don't know the meaning of the last four identifiers.

The service manual gives a maximum value of 1TB:

I don't know, try contacting Crucial and wait for more answers, I think it should support up to 2TB, but I have my doubts about 4TB.

The SSD capacity is unlimited. You can install a 2TB, 4TB, or more SSD.

Just some additional information, what type of ram do you have in your Nitro 5 AN515-58-56CH, check if your mobo is either the LA-L973P or the LA-L974P_DDR4 as those are the AN515-58 laptops with DDR4 type ram.

The DDR5 type ram mobos of the AN515-58 laptops are mainboard numbers LA-L992P / LA-L978P that support max 32Gb total ram at DDR5-4800MT/s - 5V/1.1V - 180-pin DDR5 SODIMM type ram and those laptops do support up to Gen 4 x4 4TB M.2 SSD drives.

If your AN515-58-56CH laptop has the DDR5-4800MT/s ram then its either of those mobo numbers as that is the only AN515-58 released with DDR5 type ram and your laptop can operate with a 4TB M.2 SSD Gen 4 x4 lane type drive. Have a look here at Tom's Hardware SSD Benchmarks Hierarchy 2024 for a comprehensive M.2 1TB, 2TB and 4TB M.2 SSD tests of all M.2 SSD PCIe 3rd and 4th and 5th gen drives and which are the best and quickest, its a very interesting comparison and benchmarking tets.
