Dear Predator users and Acer team,

I have been using my ph16-71 for almost 1.5 months and I have some problems about it. I think that the problems that I have are software based. My bios version is 1.16 and my drivers and windows are all up to date.

I had noticed the problem when I was testing my laptop with a game called Valorant. I had checked the cpu temperature and cpu power (wattage) and They were way too high. It was unbelievable because it didn't heat up that much until I played Valorant. I played AAA games before that. In that moment, I realized that the problem is about my cpu configuration or etc.

As far as I have observed, the cpu does not limit itself until the gpu reaches a certain load. What I mean here is that in a AAA level game the gpu load is very high, and as far as I have observed, the cpu unit recognizes this gpu load and limits itself. By limitation I mean clock speed and wattage. I say this because in the valorant game, when the gpu load is low, the cpu goes to extremely high clock speeds and wattage. After making deliberate movements in the game that force the gpu, the wattage and clock speed drops to a stable value. This makes the temperatures more normal. I have used different brands. this cpu is more stable when you play games, they all have it and I can say that it works better than acer. In some games it is really ridiculous.

If I need to give numerical data, before making deliberate moves 5000mhz and 90w+, after deliberate moves between 3000-4200mhz and between 30-60w. The latter data is usually similar to AAA games and the temperatures are more stable. I have the same problem in CS2 and the cpu unit is consuming 100w, so it goes to high temperatures.

I hope you will find a solution to this problem. Finally, please add the predatorSense v5 program to our support page just like the phn16-71 model. There is still no development for ph16-71. A BIOS update wouldn't be bad either.

Kind regards,
Sirac

I have a PH16-71 model, and when I did a stress test in AIDA64 I saw that the temperatures rose to 99+ after 10-20 seconds, and the processor TDP is 120w!!!! I installed the intell extreme tuning utility program and saw the following TDP settings ... processor 85 watts short boost 157 56 sec. I set the following parameters 65 watt processor, short 75 watts 62 sec. temperatures did not rise above 78! (unfortunately, this utility does not allow changing voltage parameters)
I hope this information will help you!
