I've had my acer laptop for a few years now (Model Number N19W2) and i've never had a problem. But this morning the audio suddenly stopped working, saying that there is no output device. i tried downloading a driver, but windows wouldn't let me run it, declaring it dangerous. I've restarted it multiple times when it told me to, but it's not doing anything. I'm able to connect it to my wireless earplugs, but this is still an inconvenience. I need it for school next week. And since i'm starting grade 12, it's essential that i have my laptop in top condition.

The audio output may be set to the headphones instead of the built-in speakers. Check the audio settings in the operating system to ensure the default audio device is set to the laptop speakers.

Hello! I was just now having a similar issue, though the Windows prompts I got were different than yours. I believe I fixed it by re-installing the audio drivers, which I found on the Acer website. I believe we have the same computer model, so try this link:

    https://www.acer.com/ca-en/support/product-support/SP314-54N/NX.HQCAA.002/downloads?sn=12700234066,

Although you can also find the appropriate drivers by going to this link https://www.acer.com/ca-en/support/drivers-and-manuals and typing in your computer's SNID or serial number.

I also uninstalled all my audio drivers first via device manager, but I am unsure if you need to do that or not. I hope this fixes it for you!

    1. Download the latest driver from the Laptop Manufacturer support site.
Search the Serial number or input the exact series and model of the laptop.

    Acer Support
    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support

    once installed restart your computer.

    1. Uninstall all the audio drivers then let Windows reinstall the compatible audio drivers.
      Press Windows key + X
      select device manager
select Sound, video and game controllers
      Uninstall all audio drivers
then check "delete the driver software for this device"
      Click Uninstall.
Open Windows Updates the click "check for updates"
    2. If that didn't work. Restart again these audio services.
In the search box on the taskbar, type services,
find these services from the list, right-click, and then select Restart:

    Windows Audio

    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

    Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

    1. Add a legacy sound driver hardware

    Press Windows key + X
    select device manager
    Click Action
    then Add legacy hardware
    Click Next
select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
select Sound, video and game controllers
    then next
    select sound device manufacturer
    then click next > finish
    restart your computer.

Yes, unfortunately we don't have a cross reference for those "N19W2" numbers. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like xxxxx-xxx-xxxx. If, as guessed above, you have a Canadian SP314-54N-xxxx model then using the SP314-54N model number on Acer support site should get you the right audio drivers. You can also start Device Manager to see if it is showing any errors or warnings.
