Good day!

According to the PH16-72 laptop product specs:

16” 16:10 WQXGA (2560x1600) IPS Display, 240Hz, 500nits brightness

Should I just get a monitor that is capable of 2560x1600 resolution and refresh rate of 240Hz?

Thank you,

Dada

You also have to consider the HDMI port, dGPU specs and USB-C DP and DisplayPort 1.4 cable: Best to get a monitor with the specs you mentioned that supports Display Port (DP) although I have not seen any with 500 nits brightness The Best Monitors for 2024 | PCMag

    Hi Puraw,

Thanks! Unfortunately, my PH16-72 does not have a DP port, but it does have Thunderbolt USB-C port. I use a USB-C_to_DP cable converter or adapter and it works fine on my old monitor. My old monitor can only handle up to 165Hz hence my interest on getting a new one and asking this question.

So far I've scanned the web for a 240Hz 2560x1600 monitor or even x1440 and the prices are not so wallet-friendly. :D

You'll need to check the output on your computer and see what kinds of ports are available (if you have a dedicated video card, you'll want to look at those outputs). Then, make sure your monitor features the same type of ports --- if it doesn't, you'll need some sort of adapter or special cable.
