Hello…

I am a PC newbie and I would like some questions answered

I have Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 PHN16-71-5606 (This is the Intel Core i5 / RTX4060 2023 model) and I'm looking to upgrade my laptops SSD storage and I am searching for the best price to performance models.

I am choosing between these three currently,

1.) SSD Samsung 980 PRO 1TB NVMe M.2 2280

2.) Western Digital WD Black SN850X NVMe Gen4 PCIe M.2 2280

3.) Acer Predator GM7 PCIe 4.0 SSD | M.2 2280

(Considering to buy 1TB Versions)

Regarding the Samsung one, I found in the internet that the pro model had like an issue I didn't probe much to learn about it. The predator one seems good but I'm not seeing if it had heatsink version available so right now, I'm leaning on WD SN850X because the website I'm buying at had the heatsink versions listed and it is much higher listed for gaming performance as compared to the predator one. Is that right?

My next question I guess is… If I buy the ones with the heatsink version, will it even fit in my laptop? I mean it looks quite bulky (at least in the picture)

And do I need to consider some other things in buying SSD's?

Thank you for those who will answer, any help is much appreciated…

Keep in mind the SSDs needs to be single-sided and no there is no space for heatsink . Slot 1 for sure will not take double-sided nor heatsinks , Slot 2 will probably handle double-sided(without heatsink) or single-sided (with heatsink) but no one here will recommend it , you can try it if you like to risk .

There are some SSDs with graphene pad(which they do fit) instead of heatsink ex. GM 7000 , Kingston Fury Renegade, etc.

You can also search the forum about it , there are plenty of threads regarding SSD upgrades including the Samsung one .

Sorry late reply on my part and thanks! 😊

I did think that the ones with heatsinks will not fit and looked for an alternative.

The double-sided and single-sided variation is new to me so I appreciate the info! ⭐️
