Hello, I noticed today that the Samsung 980 m.2 drive reaches a temperature of over 60 degrees under load. Is this normal? By the way, do you know what height the radiator will fit on this drive?

Thank you for your help.

Hi, Samsung specifies 0 - 70 degrees C. as the operating temps in the data sheet so you're fine. 😉 The 990PRO heatsinks won't fit in the Nitro slim laptops as the total thickness exceeds 3x the 990Evo SSD that I recommend as the 990Evo runs very cool and doesn't require a heatsink or even thermal wrapping.

I understand, I'll check this 990 EVO disk if it works, but I don't think I'll make it this month... I'll let you know when I do the tests. Thanks for your help ;)

Is it possible that the heatsink and thermal pad used by Acer on the m.2 increased the temperature of the disk?

Just some additional advice for you, as Acer didn't put any thermal pads or their new M.2 thermal graphite foil on the M.2 drives on the Nitro AN515-57 laptop, also it does not specify any for this laptop. What the AN515-57 has is a metal heatshield that is attached to the back cover of your laptop for SSD1 and SSD2 drives to dissipate heat and cool the M.2 drives down, its the same as on my Nitro AN515-56 model that is virtually the same as yours.

What I did is I covered both M.2 SSD1 and SSD 2 drives with a high-end thermal pad from Thermal Grizzly called Minus Pad Extreme as that works perfectly, btw I'm using a Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD drive as my boot drive and that runs at the temp below in Samsung Magician, so try that as it works. Good luck

These are the new foils that Acer uses on their new Nitro laptops for Ml.2 drives and RAM modules.
