Need to Max out RAM & Storage for Acer Nitro ANV15-51-73B9 & AN515-54-5812

I'm not a computer hardware tech person; yes, I think I'll be able to replace these myself, but I want to make sure I am getting the correct items needed. Thanks for the help.

Acer Nitro ANV15-51-73B9 CPU-Z says that I have two 8GB sticks - DDR5-5600 (2800 MHz) - and I would like to know if I can upgrade those to two 16GB sticks - DDR5 4800MHz (32GB is the max according to my info but if this is incorrect, please tell me what that is) - without any problems?

I also have a 512GB Gen 4 SSD and want to bump this up to at least 2T. What is a good replacement for this? I'm totally fine with external drives but I understand that internal drives would be faster.

Acer Nitro AN515-54-5812 CPU-Z says I have one 8GB stick (slot #2) - DDR4-3200 (1600 MHz) - and I would like to max this out as well. Would two sticks of 16GB DDR4 2400 MHz be correct AND max the RAM out?

Again, I'm also looking to bump this from 256GB NVMe SSD to at least 2T. What is a good replacement for this? Could I use the same drive that would be recommended for the 73B9 laptop?

Thanks for the help, it is very much appreciated!

    Hi Jilly,
These are the RAM and storage details for the Acer Nitro ANV15-51

Yes, you can upgrade RAM with 2x16GB DDR5-5200MT/s modules to the maximum 32GB RAM that is supported: Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR5-5200 SODIMM | CT2K16G52C42S5 | Crucial.com
SSDs 2TB should work as Crucial quotes up to 4TB NVMe SSDs. I recommend Gen4 Samsung 990 Evo for the first slot that runs much cooler than the 990Pro and thus not require a heatsink but is a bit slower and the Gen3 NVMe Samsung 970 Evo Plus for the 2nd PCIe slot.

These are the details for the AN15-54

    2x16GB-2400MHz RAM to a maximum of 32GB is supported: Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT2K16G4SFD824A | Crucial.com
and you can upgrade the 2.5" Sata-3 HDD with a much faster 2.5" Sata-3 Samsung 870 Evo V-NAND SSD up to 2TB.

Slot 1 M.2 PCIe 3x2 for SSD with a sequential read/write of 2000MB/s the 2nd slot M.2 drive can accommodate either a PCIe3 or a SATA M.2 SSD drive, max M.2 size is 2TB. You can Install a Gen3 Samsung 970 Evo Plus but it will run at half the rated speed.

Hi Jilly, for the Intel Core i5 9th Gen 9300H in the Acer Nitro AN15-54 no problem as it runs at 2666MHz native clock speed and supports Intel® Flex Memory Access you probably get a speed of 2667 MHz with mixed SODIMMs. For the ANV15-51 you show in CPU-Z an 8GB single RAM but in the advertisement, it shows a 32GB kit with 2x16GB-4800MT/s, if you want to replace the 8GB module with 2x16GB-4800MT/s no issues as the i7-13620H CPU supports up to DDR5 5200 MT/s.

    Puraw,

Would it cause any problems if I mixed my current memory (1 of 2 8GB stick, 1 of 1 8GB) with a new stick of a different company and amount of memory?

Any upgrades I do to either laptop will void any warranty or extended warranty that I have purchased, correct?
If this is correct, is there a way of upgrading that will not void any warranty besides sending it to Acer?

    Thanks again!

Just some additional memory information and to correct the ram issue for your Nitro ANV15-51 model laptop that you have, as allot of the posts above are wrong for the wrong laptop that you have which is NOT the AN15-54 as you have the Nitro ANV15-51 laptop, and some of the memory spec tables are also wrong as you don't have DDR4 in your Nitro ANV15-51 but you have DDR5-5600MT/s type ram.

The correct and proper memory specs you can upgrade the ram to in your Nitro ANV15-51 is to a max of 2x 16GB DDR5-5600MT/s into your laptops 2x ram slots instead of the 2x 8GB DDR5-5600MT/s type that Acer installed oem into your laptop when you bought it. The below tables are all the information that you need for memory upgrade to the max capacity of 32GB @ 2x 16GB DDR5-5600MT/s type ram that I've also included the memory modules below from this laptops service guide, good luck and hope this clears this out for you.

This is the ram composite foil that you need to wrap the ram with also

So you are saying the memory I bought, "Crucial RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR5 4800MHz CL40 Laptop Memory CT2K16G48C40S5" will not work for my ANV15-51-73B9 laptop?

If that's the case, will it work for my AN515-54-5812 laptop?

What about the SSD? SAMSUNG 990 EVO SSD 1TB, PCIe Gen 4x4, Gen 5x2 M.2 2280 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive MZ-V9E1T0B/AM Will it work for either of them?

The ANV15-51 only works with DDR5 type ram that is totally different to DDR4 type ram, DDR5 is a 262-pin SO-DIMM and DDR4 is a 260-pin DDR4 SODIMM, so DDR4 is smaller size ram module and wont fit into a larger DDR5 slot and vise versa.

The DDR5-4800MT/s will work in the ANV15-51 but slower and at 4800MT/s speed dual channel instead of what the specified Acer DDR5-5600MT/s speed should be, change the DDR5-4800MT/s to a 32GB kit @ DDR5-5600MT/s type.

These are differences between DDR4 and DDR5 type notebook ram as the slot is in a different position

This is the Acer service guide specs for the Nitro AN515-54 laptop.

    Hello,
I have a AN515-54-56YJ. I would like to upgrade the RAM. I need to know if I can use 2Rx8 type or only 1Rx8.
I can't find anything about that.
    Could you help me?

To upgrade the RAM on your Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54-56YJ, you can use either 2Rx8 or 1Rx8 type RAM modules. Both types are compatible with your laptop
