Hi there, I have the above monitor which is connected to the laptop with a (new) VGA to HDMI cable, when I press the monitors start button, the start light flashes orange/green but my laptop is not recognising it, any help would be great, thanks

    Hi,

I'm going to use what information I have to take a shot at this.

The cable you're using might not be fit for the job. It looks like to achieve what you want, the cable needs to be powered in some way.

An HDMI to VGA cable (not VGA to HDMI) will only have two connections: an HDMI connection and a VGA connection.

A correct, powered VGA to HDMI cable will have at least three connectors: HDMI, VGA, and something for power (probably USB). You can also get them with a built-in 3.5mm audio cable. Be very careful to verify the cable is advertised as VGA to HDMI and that it has the connection for power.

If you do in fact have the correct cable like I've described, than this issue is beyond me. I hope this helps, and if not, best of luck.

The cable is an HDMI to VGA, not VGA to HDMI. The computer has HDMI output, the monitor only VGA input. No external power needed for the adapter.
