acer a1311, Charging/powering from a flat battery it flashes slowly, can't get access to menu etc.

my friend gave me his tablet to fix. powering from a flat battery it flashes slowly …acer support login powered by android. with other tablets i have i can turn it off to charge more quickly but this one cycles continuously and wont turn off. i checked the unplugged battery inside and got a reading of appx 4 volts. with another android tablet i can connect with a win 7 pc and see the files and open them . with his one it shows as " very" something cycling as does the screen in device manager and my computer page once i managed to access the tablet and see some files but they were all numbers and symbles. so can i re load the software by the usb socket or a flash card or some other way .please answer all of the question i have asked. please remember i cand get access to menu etc many thanks from brian 7284

    should have added that the reset procedure using the on/off and volume buttons has no efffect.

    I'm not sure what an A1311 is… Maybe an A1-830 (google suggestion)? If so that would make it a 10 year old Android tablet running KitKat. No big surprise if the battery has completely failed.

    It sounds like a firmware issue. Try performing a hard reset or flashing the firmware via a USB connection. If that fails, contact Acer support for further assistance.

    The problem with the 'A1311' model number is they reused those over the years. They are really only relevant within a single model line, so we have to know the real number. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like xxxxx-xxx-xxxx. I believe it likely yours is as suggested a A1-830-xxxx

    to billsey re acer iconica ,my tablet is the a1-830 as you suggested ,note this is correct, my previouse entry of a few minits ago may be incorrect. ime tired. did look for drivers but to no avail . many thanks
