Hi. I've a tablet Acer A3-A40 with Android 6.0 with patch from 5 february 2017 (image version Acer_AV0M0_A3-A40_RV08RC05_WW_GEN1). I find another image, I think is more higher, in Acer website to download, and I downloaded the this zip file. Now I want to install this in my tablet. Anyone help me with details how can do this installation? Thanks.

I believe that post was a spam, with a link to a site completely unrelated to the topic. It was likely just an AI generated post with the link added… We get a lot of those, though they are removed pretty quickly. :)

Take a look inside the zip file. If it contains only an 'update.zip' file, extract it to your SD card. If it's made up of a bunch of different files, rename it to 'update.zip' and copy it to the SD card. With the SD card inserted reboot and press the power and volume down button simultaneously to get the recovery menu. From there it should be fairly straight forward to load the new OS.

The A3-A40 should have a slot for an SD card, you make sure the SD card is formatted FAT32 and put the update.zip file in it's root directory. Are you sure the image you found is correct for your model? I do see RV09RC01.WW.GEN1 on Acer's website, is that the one you are trying?

Sorry, billsey, I followed the instructions to change de file to update.zip (because the zip have files like .dat, .bin, boot.img, a folder meta-inf, a much more) but when I choose in boot menu the "update by SD card" there not exist any file to select. I put the zip file in a SD card of 16Gb, formated FAT32. Any addicional help?

To upgrade the OS on your Acer A3-A40 tablet, follow these steps:

    1. Check for Official Updates:

    • Settings: Go to Settings > System > System updates.
    • Check for Updates: Tap on Check for updates. If an official update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.

    2. Prepare for Manual Upgrade:

    • Backup Data: Ensure all important data is backed up.
    • Battery: Charge your tablet to at least 70%.

    3. Download Firmware:

    • Visit the Acer Support website and search for your device model (Acer A3-A40).
    • Download the latest firmware or ROM available for your tablet.

    4. Install Firmware:

    • Connect to PC: Connect your tablet to your PC via USB.
    • Transfer Firmware: Transfer the downloaded firmware file to the root directory of your tablet's internal storage (not in any folder).
    • Enter Recovery Mode:
      1. Turn off the tablet.
      2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously until the Acer logo appears.
      3. Release the Power button but continue holding the Volume Up button until the Recovery Mode menu appears.
    • Install Update:
      1. Use the volume buttons to navigate to Apply update from internal storage.
      2. Select the firmware file you transferred.
      3. Confirm and wait for the installation to complete.

    5. Reboot:

    • Once the installation is finished, select Reboot system now from the Recovery Mode menu.

    Troubleshooting:

    • Boot Loop/Issues: If you encounter any issues, try performing a factory reset in Recovery Mode.
    • Stuck in Recovery Mode: Ensure the firmware file is not corrupted. Re-download and try again.

If you have any specific errors or further questions, feel free to ask!
