[Swift 3] Unable to access BIOS as administrator

Hi all,

Long story short, I have an old Acer Swift 3 laptop, on which I try to set up Ubuntu. Somehow, after many unsuccessful installation tries, I lost access to the BIOS as administrator.

The current state is that there is no OS on my machine (or nothing that is able to boot alone). I'd like to reset everything and get a new clean machine.

When I enter the BIOS, I con only do so as a user, either with a user password or after three unsuccessful tries and using the provided key to unlock.

Well, so far I feel quite lost, what can I do? ANy suggestions ?

Problem halfway solved: I leave a comment here for reference.

I managed to enter the BIOS in Administrator mode. When entering with user mode, I deactivated user password (leave a blank password). Then, next login, I entered the unlock code provided by an external website (www.biosbug.com in my case). Then I had admin rights and could modify the BIOS parameters (including the boot order).

Now I still need to install an OS on my laptop. My previous installations of Ubuntu were not successful. For unknown reason, the laptop culdn't boot into Linux after installation and turning off the machine…

We need to know just which Swift 3 model you have? There have been a lot of different ones over the years. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SF3xx-xxx-xxxx. What type and size of drive is installed?
