I have been using acer nitro 5 AN515-55 for a while set on 144Hz display refresh rate. But for sometime it has shifted to 60Hz and doesn't let me change the setting. I have tried all the settings in the advanced graphic setting and looked for the 144Hz setting but I haven't succeeded. What could be the issue?

    If you have a Nitro with the 144Hz refresher rate as an oem screen supplied by Acer then the screen should always have that setting available, unless the screen has a fault and needs replacing, as that is the only reason why you can't change the screen to 144Hz and it runs on 60Hz refresher rate.

    This is my Nitro AN515-56 running @ 144Hz refresher rate and its done so for 3.25 years without any problems:

    What could be the issue on my screen, as it looks perfectly fine and there's no visible fault present? Could it be a driver issue that needs to be resolved. Or am I just delusional thinking I had 144Hz display from the start meanwhile I've been using 60Hz all along.

    The issue could be that your screen has a faulty eDP plug or cable that its data strand could have broken from opening and closing the laptop top, as this cable connects the screen to the mainboard. A 144Hz refresher rate screen there are allot of thin data and power strand wires in the eDP cable that one or a few could have broken and affected the 144Hz signal hence and why you are only getting the 60Hz refresher rate signal.

    You need to get the eDP plug at the mainboard or screen checked out if its pins are not burned out as that could happen too, If you do this yourself MAKE SURE THAT YOU FIRST DISSCONECT THE MAIN BATTERY OF THE LAPTOP BEFORE UNPLUGGING THE eDP PLUG FROM THE MAINBOARD as if you don't you will damage and burn the screen plug on the mainboard and the eDP plug at the screen plug, which is virtually impossible to fix and you will need a new mainboard and screen, so be very careful as there should be NO POWER in the laptop when you disconnect the eDP plug/cable of the screen. Good luck and be careful if you do the job yourself. Hope this helps you out.

    @wdkd69

    Do you have the 144hz sticker on the bottom left of the screen?

    When did your laptop lost its 144hz? I lost mine when I had a screen replacement not in a service center, and it seems it was fine at first as the 144hz still working. After an update from windows 11 it's gone missing dunno what happened. I tried so many things involving the drivers but none of it works. The only solution I managed is to switch to linux.
