Predator PO3-620-ER12 - RAM Upgrade Question. want to check which RAM is compatible

Hey everyone,

I've been running the Predator Orion 3000 Gaming Desktop - PO3-620-ER12 (no modifications) for a couple of years now, and I'm considering upgrading the RAM to enhance its performance, especially for virtualization/gaming purposes. Currently, it's running on the stock configuration, but I'm aiming to boost it up to (at least) 32 GB of RAM.

After some initial research, I've come across the Crucial RAM 16GB Kit, which seems like a potential option. However, before I go ahead and spend the money, I'd like to confirm whether this RAM is compatible with my system or if there are better alternatives available.

Any insights or recommendations on compatible RAM options for my system would be greatly appreciated.

The Crucial RAM will be compatible but apart from that you can also go with either Kingston or Micron RAM

If I leave the RAM that came with the system installed and add the Crucial RAM kit I mentioned earlier, will there be any issues with the Crucial RAM underclocking to 2933MHz (no XMP) to match the pre-installed RAM running at its base speed of 2933MHz?

No, all memory installed will run at 2933 since there won't be anything there that forces a slower speed, like there would be with XMP memory.

After Installing the New Critical RAM kit My RAM is Now 32 GB (Woohoo!) but for some reason, the speed has dropped down to 2400 Mhz from 2933 Mhz. What could be causing this sudden decrease in speed? Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

The PO3-620 doesn't support XMP overclocking, so XMP memory will run at it's base JEDEC speed, which is 2400 in your case. They either sent you the wrong memory or there's something weird going on.

The Model Number On the Package Matches the Model Number on Amazon, as well as the Crucial Website Product Page. Neither Of Which Mentions the RAM being XMP.

The RAM looks like its the right RAM as advertised In CPU-Z as well, so what could be going on with my system

Would a BIOS update potentially fix this?

You are right, CPU-Z shows the memory running at 3200mhz (1600 times two), so that's what we expect. I don't know what or where Task Manager is getting that number. And no, a BIOS update will not change it.

Maybe it's a compatibility issue? from everything I've looked at or tried it's still locked at 2400Mhz, not the biggest deal but I would like to get that couple hundred clock speeds im missing out on.
