What kind of Wi-Fi card my laptop needs in Predator Helios 300?

I have an acer predator Helios 300 with an i7 7700hq.

Currently the Wi-Fi is acting funny and Bluetooth has always been funny so I wish to upgrade the Wi-Fi card. For some reason could not find any Wi-Fi 6 cards in my country and Wi-Fi 6e cards were cheaper in fact so decided on an ac210 Wi-Fi 6e card.

Wondering if it will be compatible with my laptop.

Your Predator laptop that has the i7-7700HQ CPU is the Predator G3-572 model laptop and it does not operate with the new Wi-Fi 6 or 6e WLAN cards, you need to use the old AC Wi-Fi 5 standard type cards that your laptop was fitted with by Acer 9see caption below) and buy one of the cards that are listed below, as these cards are all Wi-Fi CERTIFIED* - Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) type cards of either the Lite-On NFA344A model or the Intel AC7265 model card that are available very cheaply on eBay or Amazon and its a plug and play type card that is easely accessible on the back of your laptop, but make sure that you attach the correct black/white antenna wires to MAIN & AUX plugs on the card, so make a note or take a caption of the old card to where these wires are attached to.

After you change to one of these new cards you will need to go to the Acer Support page for the G3-572(G) model laptop and get the oem Acer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers for these cards which the Lite-On NFA344A card uses the Wi-Fi Atheros driver version: 12.0.0.312 and BT version: 10.0.0.312 and the Intel AC7265 card uses the Intel Wi-Fi driver version: 19.60.0.7 and BT version: 19.60.0.3 that are on the Acer G3-572 laptops support page above.

If you don't do all this and you don't use the Acer oem provided Wi-Fi/BT drivers, that is probably why your laptop has the Wi-Fi problems that it has, so start with the Acer provided drivers and uninstall all the wireless drivers and Bluetooth drivers off your laptop before you change to a new card and drivers, otherwise the new card functions will not work properly. Good luck.

Wow man. thanks for the answer but in my haste I already took the plunge. actually the whole point of the upgrade was to get to wifi 6 to match my router. anyways I got an ax210ngw wifi card. the wifi is amazing now, super fast but there is no bluetooth. actually bluetooth has completely disappeared from my computer vanished without a trace. it was last seen in device manager from where i uninstalled it. multiple reboots, uninstalls and re-installs of the drivers and still no sign. There is a tape on the card pins method that I think might work but I will only do that as a last resort. i paid for the [Sensitive Content] pins so im gonna use all the[Sensitive Content] pins! I dont want to go back to plugging in a bluetooth usb…

    thanks for the reply man.

Ok that is great that you got the Wi=Fi 6 gong with your modem and its good to know that you have advised the community of this upgrade.

With the Bluetooth, I suggest and if you can’t pair the AX210NGW BT (which is hard for everyone on many laptops, so your problem is not unusual) I would suggest that you buy a cheap BT dongle as most have BT version 5 which is good enough even for Hi=Fi listening and pair allot easier than the internal Killer or MTK Wi-Fi/BT cards. Btw, this what I’m using on a Nitro 5 AN515-56 gaming laptop that came oem with the Killer AX1650i Wi-Fi/BT card and the Bluetooth is impossible to pair with all my headphones, so I gave up on it and bought a dongle and it works great with no paring problems.

Yea I had to use dongle when I used the dualsense for gaming cos the inbuilt bluetooth in my laptop was unplayable. even right by the laptop it would lag. with the usb 5.0 it was really good. Anyways after pretty much doing everything I have been completely beaten into submission by this thing I have finally located the (correct) pins now they are gonna make me tape 2 micro sized pins just so that my bluetooth may work what is wrong with this world. if this doesn't work, yea I am chilling. my last shot. its too good to give up.

Okay leaving an update. I ended up making it work by taping pins 56 and 58, and then doing a system reset which kept all files but removed all installed things.

So without the tape mod only wifi was working bluetooth not even showing up. After successfully doing the tape mod, BT showed up but devices wouldn't pair or connect. Tried everything at this stage. In the end only the system reset helped. I suspect it is some of the earlier installed drivers. Bluetooth and wifi versions were fully updated via the intel driver update app. I also removed all other drivers that showed up as apps, still wouldn't pair. I did not fully uninstall all the paired devices and wifi and bt drivers drivers before installing the new one, big mistake I think.

This is the second time I have done a system reset and found the laptop performance perfect again. Windows update catches all the essentially and required drivers. I am not gonna install any of the ancient oem drivers again. Might as an experiment to see if it messes up BT again.

Also my backups failed..and now I have to figure those out... Windows has like 3 or 5 different backup methods... None very reliable..

Anyways thanks for helping out buddy! I lost all the battles but we still won the war! Gg!

Also the antenna wires in your pic are the other way around.
