Is this Crucial SSD compatible with the TC-1780, and does anyone have any views on its performance ?

You don't give us the model number of the SSD. Crucial makes lots of different ones. The spec you likely need is NVMe x4, either 3.0 or 4.0. Don't pay extra for 4.0 though, since your motherboard is 3.0 a 4.0 drive will run at the 3.0 speeds.

Brilliant, thanks for your help. It was actually the 3.0 that I was looking at, but when I've looked to buy, the 4.0 costs £1 more (on the Crucial website) than the 3.0 does on Amazon. For the sake of £1 should I purchase some future proofing, provided the 4.0 will still work, albeit at 3.0 speeds?
