I have had to deal with this issue for a year now.
As you can see I have a major issue with the display. The first repair center I went to told me I have to replace the entire screen. However he was unable to find the right part/screen. The second place I went to today also recommended replacing the screen. I do not know if he will be able to find the part. NONE of these two people suggested replacing JUST the cable  - despite the fact that i have seen videos on YouTube of people doing so. I can NOT find the cable/wire for this model number online though! The screen replacement would cost me 20% of the laptop's price. I have NOT been to an official service center since a) it's out of warranty and b) based on other people's reviews, they are upto no good.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue? What helped?

I don't know where your techs have looked at? As here is one of the top screen online distributors where you can get a screen for your Acer SWIFT 3 SF314-55G Series laptop. Your laptop has a 30 pin video connector its a 14.0" WideScreen and its USD $74.99, simple, so look there and replace your screen.

Here are the screen cables and you can buy them here "Acer 50.GXKN1.006 LCD Display Cable Non Dmic Swift SF314-54 SF314-54G" as this cable will fit your Swift 3 SF314-55G also as it’s the same for both the Swift SF314-54G and SF314-56G.

Acer SG listed part number and description of the OEM Cable EDP Cable(Non Dmic) Strongbow HT

I assume you are out of warranty? You could try just removing and reinserting the cable at each end, then holding it in place with a piece of tape. What can happen is the connector will be a bit loose and flexing the cable as you open and close the screen will cause it to lose contact. If that is not the problem, then it does require a replacement of the cable or the display. There are two Acer part numbers for the cable are: 50.H3UN5.001 and 50.H3UN5.002. I believe they are the same, just sourced from different vendors. The part number for the display itself is: KL.1400D.024, but I think it unlikely to have gone bad.

Hey, I just saw this post of yours.

I recently had some luck finding the display cable here in India:

    https://sparesale.com/Display-Cable-For-Acer-swift-sf314-55-50H3UN5002-1422-0322000?search=Acer%20Swift%20SF314-55G&description=true&sub_category=true

But I have not bought it yet and tried replacing it as I am a bit unsure. Let me know what do you think.

    Thanks
