Anybody have experience and can give some tips?

I'd like to upgrade this laptop -especially discs to have more space and probably fix problem with using full potential of nvme gen4 discs… I saw in notebookcheck review that laptop has a little problem in this area (not use full potential of ssd).

I am thinking about upgrading to 2x Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD 4TB each so total 8TB and probably in raid 0.

Anybody tried such config? any tipcs/comments?

Thanks

If you want to install ssd then you need to tell your laptop number too

The Acer Predator Helios PH18-71 laptop is a great gaming laptop and one of the best on the market today, if you want to increase this laptop speed you need to upgrade the ram to this laptop max 32GB at 2x 16GB DDR5-5600MHz 262-pin SO-DIMM ram. And the next thing is to upgrade the laptop M.2 SSD Gen4x4 drive and upgrade to the quickest drive and also wrap these M.2 SSD drives with the Acer FOIL CU W/ MYLAR GRAPHITE SHEET to disperse the heat, see below:

The Samsung 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD is a quick and great drive and will improve your sequential read/write speeds over the oem Acer fitted M.2 SSD, but the Samsung is not the quickest Gen4x4 M.2 SSD as far as M.2 drive tests that were performed, so look at this M.2 SSD fastest test and chose the M.2 SSD drive that you want. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

install ssd is easy…it was not my question how to do it :)

    My laptop - Acer Predator Helios PH18-71-96WV i9-13 RTX 4080 32GB RAM 2TB SSD 18 WQXGA 250Hz

Thinking about 2x Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD 4TB in raid0 (total 8TB) or maybe better is to use gen5 nvme drive?

Like for example 2TB or 4TB CRUCIAL T700 as main drive and 4TB m.2 second cheaper drive for other less important data…. or crazy setup 2x gen5 in raid 0 :)

Anybody has expierience with gen5 drives/raid0 configs?

i will update to 64GB ram…. there is no questions about it :) but thinking about drive yet…and also gen5 drive :) Especially 1x Crucial T700 4TB + second cheaper drive… or even 2x Crucial T700 4TB in raid 0

In my personal experience Ive found RAID more of a pain in the butt vs any performance gains I saw.

Now I always just install via ACHI and designate one drive specifically for games.
