Predator Sense issues on Triton 17X, the App simply doesn't recognize the laptop's hardware

The Predator Sense App on a Triton 17X is a very poorly written App, which although, it's at its most recent version, most (if not all) times when starting the laptop, the App simply doesn't recognize the laptop's hardware and consequently I cannot manage anything like power profiles, illumination, etc.

I've tried reinstalling the App to no avail. The only thing that solves the issue is a reboot of the laptop, however, that is really annoying, having to start the laptop and then rebooting it, only so this rubbish App can work…

    (1) Press Win+R. Enter 'msinfo32'. Please post screenshot of right pane if possible?

    (2) Is it still running the Acer factory- installed OEM version of Win11?

    Hi Jack,

Please see screenshot attached and yes, the laptop is still with the OEM Windows installed.

I think it has to do something with fast boot as after a restart and a 'normal' boot, the Predator Sense service detects the hardware correctly. However, there is no option in BIOS to disable fast boot feature to test this theory.

I also tried disabling all Acer services except 'Acer Agent Service' which is required for Predator Sense and the result is in most cases the same, i.e. PS does not detect the hardware and does not apply power plans accordingly.

    Thanks,

    Cristian

Yes, fast startup and hibernation is still notoriously buggy. For the small amount of boot time it might save, it's not worth the hassle it often causes. So keep the fast startup option UNchecked. As for the BIOS menu, press Ctrl+S to reveal any hidden options that you may want to play around with.

I disabled 'Fast startup' in Windows and on first boot Predator Sense started ok, but let's see if this is a repeatable behaviour over several other system boot sequences.

As for the hidden BIOS options, I was hoping to find a disable USB-C charging option as that's another annoying thing with Windows and these laptops, i.e., whenever you connect a PD-capable device like a dock or a monitor, Windows detects a 'weak charge' as if the laptop's charging through the PD charger rather than its barrel charger which is also plugged in. However, Predator Sense detects that the barrel charger is plugged in and disregards USB-C charging and the system performance is on par when set to 'Performance' or 'Turbo'.

Also, Predator Sense disables the performance modes when you unplug the barrel charger so that's working correctly at least.
