Max RAM and SSD for my ACER PREDATOR HELIOS 16 ( PH16-71-91SY )
Tinkerer
Hi,
I have ACER PREDATOR HELIOS 16 ( PH16-71-91SY ) [ i9 13900HX, RTX 4070 ]
Will this support 2x32GB DDR 5 5600 ( total 64 GB ) ?
Does this have additional NVME port ? if yes will this support 4 TB additional SSD ?
I tried to search for this info but there are many PH16-71-XXXX models and not all have same max RAM and SSD config hence this is becoming confusing for me.. want to be careful before I order.. can you please tell me..

If you have the Intel Core i7 13th Gen 13700HX CPU, no, it can only be upgraded to a max. total of 32GB (2x16GB DDR5-4800MHz) in the 2x ram slots. If you have the i9 13900HX CPU, that supports also up to 32GB but 5600MHz.
There are two M.2 PCIe x4 slots, which support NVMe Gen 4 SSDs.
NVMe M.2 Gen4 x 4 up to 2 TB is recommended by Acer, I recommend the Samsung 990 Pro EVO 2TB. https://semiconductor.samsung.com/consumer-storage/internal-ssd/990-pro/But Crucial recommends the P3 Plus 4TB PCIe M.2 2280 SSD so you may want to try 4TB.

Yes, you are running in Dual Channel mode at the "incredible" speed of 5600MHz (I am a bit envious). DDR5 gives you two 2x32-bit wide channels per stick, which means that you get a quad-channel configuration when running two DIMMs. If the Crucial SODIMMs did not come with thermal wraps I don't think you need that, I read on this forum that you can transfer thermal wrapping but that was for SSDs.

thanks Puraw for your help !
I purchased and installed below Crucial 2x16GB kit (=32GB) DDR5 5600 MHz RAM:
the new RAM looks similar to below from outside:
the new RAM looks like this ( after installed in my below shown Acer Predator Helios 16 ) :
one important question:
the original 16GB RAM which I removed had heatsink as can be seen in its below image:
but I did not dare to remove this original heatsink for the new one as i was scared whether it will create a sticky mess ( never done that type of thing ) and I had no such new heat sink available to be attached to the new RAM.. so, that means I have installed new RAM as is how it is visible in images marked 1 and 2 above, have I made a dangerous mistake ? will something burn ? please help me understand..
After installing:
Task manager shows this:
CPU-Z Memory tab shows this:
CPU-Z SPD tab shows this :
for Slot # 1 and 3:
for Slot # 2 and 4:
is everything alright ? do i have proper dual channel ?
Please let me know..

small correction in above : by " heat sink " i meant " thermal pad " ..
please let me know whether not applying thermal pad on RAM is a dangerous mistake ?
and if thermal pad is to be applied then which thermal pad is recommended ?
awaiting feedback..

- Are below DiskMark good for above new SSD:
2. Samsung Magician says there is new firmware available for above SSD but when i try to update it says failed to update as can be seen below :
any idea what needs to be done to update firmware on 990 Pro SSD ?

Wow that Ctrl+S hidden key was the key to reveal VMD !
disabled that and then found and followed below:
Firmware updated now :)
Question :
Should VMD be kept off ?

@kishork
Hello,
Could you please tell me how much SSD (in terabytes) has been installed in your laptop?
I want to know the maximum capacity of storage. Could you please check?
