I was reading online with my laptop when the screen suddenly stopped. I pressed and and hold power button for 15 secs to turn it off. After that I pressed the power button again to turn on laptop and the screen is still black. The keyboard has lights and I can hear the fan as well as the sound when powering the laptop on. What should I do to fix this? I already checked online for some troubleshooting but F2 can't fix problem since screen is black. Brightness is also not the problem and there is no factory reset button. I don't have the resources to have it be checked now and it will affect my work so I need to fix this now.

    Couple of things:

    1. Shutdown during reading online could have been a GPU driver issue.
    2. System abort by pressing the power key 15 sec. will corrupt system files, often repaired just by booting.
    3. If you can't even boot to BIOS with F2 that indicates either RAM failure or a bad BIOS.

You can either open your 3-year-old laptop and reset the CMOS, reseat the DDR4 models and do the Power Drain method (see below) or bring the laptop to Acer Services in your country, which I recommend.

Open the back of the laptop and disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard. Locate the CMOS module (with 2 twisted wires Red and Black under the battery) and remove the coin battery. Shorten the +/- contacts inside the CMOS capsule for 2 seconds with a bended paperclip and put the coin battery back with the + sign facing up, close the CMOS capsule. Unseat and firmly secure again the 2 DDR4 modules in the 2 slots. Next, press the Power Button on the keyboard for 10-15 seconds, after that reconnect the battery cable to the motherboard. Close the laptop, plug-in the adapter and try to boot.

I remember a pop up for system update which I've selected the option "later" and went through reading. It was a couple of hours before my screen stopped working. Right now what I did is connecting my laptop to another monitor and will do the reset from care center feature but I will first have to charge the laptop.

Here's my update. I got to connect my laptop to a monitor and the display works fine in the external display. I get to reboot the system through acer care center since f2, f9, f10, and del won't let me open BIOS even as I followed the instructions online. Going back, after the reset the display on laptop is still black and I don't want to open the laptop for some reason. Can you anyone give me other troubleshooting to fix this?
